The case

The same case around every full-size insert. It is the sort of case tools and camera bodies travel in: a gasket round the rim, catches that take a padlock, and a valve so it opens without a fight after a change in temperature.

  • Gasket-sealed. A full perimeter gasket keeps out damp, dust and spills. Protection for a loft or a garage, not for going underwater.
  • Pressure valve. Equalises the pressure inside, so the lid opens easily after a change in temperature.
  • Lockable latches. Reinforced catches with padlock points, plus a moulded carry handle.
  • Stacks square. Interlocking top and base, so a growing collection stays a tidy column.
  • Cut around your coins. Coin slots are 45.5 mm across and 7.3 mm thick, so most 1oz coins seat straight in, capsule and all.
  • Bars that aren't one size. Bar slots are open through the middle with foam either side, so the tray closes on a thick bar and a thin one alike.

How a box is made

The shell is bought in. Everything inside it is drawn, printed and fitted here in Milton Keynes.

  1. Source the shell

Cases come in by the box. We check the gasket sits flat and the lid closes square, and send back the ones that don't.

  2. Model the insert

Each format is drawn from measured samples, with tolerances tight enough to hold but loose enough to lift out one-handed.

  3. Print to order

Printed one at a time in your colour and finish. Nothing sits in a warehouse; your insert is made after you order it.

  4. Fit, check, dispatch

Tray seated, catches tested, engraving checked against what you asked for. Out within 2 working days, two more if it's engraved, or collect from us in Milton Keynes.

Colours and finishes

Black, green and blue are always loaded, and every colour comes in two finishes: rugged textured, a matte grippy surface, or forged carbon, a smooth marbled face. Other colours are a filament change rather than a special order, so ask.

Your name, initials or a date, raised into the insert as it prints. Up to 22 characters. We confirm the layout before printing, and it adds 2 working days. Add it in the builder.
Coin capsules
Add 60 clear 40 mm capsules to a Coin Stacker for £6.50, or 30 to a Coin & Bar Mix for £3.25. Also sold on their own, 60 for £10.
Other colours
Red, white, purple, or whatever you have in mind. Tell us in the builder notes and we'll confirm stock and lead time before you pay.

Storing something we don't make a box for?

Those eight are the ones we make often. Every tray starts as a drawing, so if you can describe what you're storing, or post one to us to measure, we can model around it.

Start a custom enquiry
  • An odd size or capsule. Capsules, flips and slabbed grades vary between mints and graders. Send us the exact product and we'll cut to it.
  • A mix we don't list. A different split of coins to bars, a deeper tray, two layers, or a case that holds one specific collection.
  • A different case entirely. Got a case you already own, or want a bigger shell? We can print an insert to fit a case you supply.
  • More than a few. Dealer, club or a run of gifts? Tell us how many and we'll quote properly rather than multiplying up.

Before you order

The questions we get asked most. Anything else, ask us.

Is the case genuinely waterproof?
The shell has a full perimeter gasket and closes on lockable latches, so it's sealed against damp, dust and splashes, which is why we chose it over a display box. Treat it as protection against a leaking loft or a damp garage, not as diving equipment.
What are the inserts made from?
A durable 3D-printing filament, chosen to hold a clean edge and take a knock without cracking. Every insert is printed to order rather than moulded. That's what lets us cut them to a specific format and run them in whatever colour you want.
Will it fit my exact coins and bars?

Every box lists its slot sizes, on its page and in the builder, and our size guide lists popular coins with which fit. The sizes are the openings as designed, so measure the widest point of your piece, capsule or sleeve included, and it needs to come in a little under them to slide in.

Coins: each slot takes a round piece up to 45.5 mm across and 7.3 mm thick, sitting on edge in a curved cradle. That covers most 1oz bullion coins in their capsules. Silver Eagles and Kangaroos (40.6 mm) fit bare, but the 41 mm capsules usually sold for them are about 47 mm across, too wide for the slots, and they're too big for our own 40 mm capsules.

Bars: slots are 38 mm wide and 8 mm thick, open through the middle with foam either side, so a thicker bar and a thinner one both close in properly. That's deliberate: bar dimensions vary between mints, and the foam takes up the difference.

Cards: slots are 90 mm long and 2 mm thick, long enough for a card bar still in its plastic sleeve, as well as a bare one. Larger Royal Mint cards are too big for them, in the Credit Card 98 and the Multibox alike.

TEP cards: slots are 84 mm long and 5 mm thick, for cards still sealed in their tamper-evident packaging.

Storing something unusual, such as slabbed grades, oversized capsules or an odd format? Message us with the exact product first. We'd rather cut you a custom insert than sell you one that won't close.

Can I have a colour that isn't listed?
Usually, yes. Because each insert is printed to order we can run other filament colours. Message us before you buy so we can confirm stock and any lead time.
How does engraving work, and what does it cost?
A flat £5 per box, however long the text, and it adds 2 working days to the lead time. Add it in the builder and we'll come back with the layout for approval before printing. Keep it short: around 20 characters reads best across the front of the insert. Because an engraved box is made to your specification, it can't be cancelled or returned once printing starts unless it's faulty.
What does delivery cost, and how quickly do you dispatch?
Delivery is free anywhere in Great Britain, including the Scottish islands, sent by Royal Mail 48, normally with you within two to three working days of dispatch. We can't currently deliver to Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands or overseas. We dispatch standard configurations within 2 working days. Engraving adds 2 working days, and the 1g Multipack 117 takes 4; the builder shows the exact date range as you configure. Collection is welcome from Milton Keynes.
What's the best way to store silver at home?
Dry, sealed and handled as little as possible: coins in capsules or their original packaging, inside a gasket-sealed case with a silica gel sachet, kept somewhere with a steady temperature rather than a loft or garage. Avoid soft PVC flips, rubber bands and cardboard, which can mark silver over time. Our guide to storing silver at home covers it in full.
Do you sell the bullion too?
No. We make the storage, not the metal. The coins and bars in our photos are there to show fit.
